Seeking the support and consultation of a therapist is an investment of time and money. My goal is to work efficiently in helping my clients overcome the challenges they face. No doubt there is a value to long-term therapy, but when the right ingredients are present, significant growth can occur in short periods of time. With a strengths-based and direct approach, I support my clients in increasing their understanding of themselves, improving their relationships, and finding solutions.
COUPLES: Anyone who has ever attempted it can attest: being in a long-term relationship is HARD. Some might say it's the most challenging endeavor there is. I argue that it is absolutely the most important one, with the biggest impact on your quality of life and emotional well-being. In other words, making your relationship truly thrive is worth all the work you put into it.
In my practice, I counsel couples at many different stages of the relationship journey. The key to my approach is creating a space where each partner feels heard and respected. Through facilitating productive dialogues and setting clear intentions, I help couples reduce conflict and negativity, and increase their understanding (of themselves and their partners).
CHILDREN, TEENS, & FAMILIES: When working with young people in my practice (aged 3rd grade through 12th grade), I use a systems approach. My work with students includes consulting with their parents and often with their teachers. By staying connected to the home and school domains, I gain perspective from multiple sources, and can effect change on multiple levels for my clients. I have a thorough knowledge of Individualized Educational Plans (IEP's) and school-provided Special Education services, so am active in helping coordinate and improve school supports for my clients. I have worked effectively with young people experiencing anxiety, depression, school behavior problems, social issues, ADHD, anger management issues, and students on the Autism spectrum.
INDIVIDUALS: The adults I see individually in my practice are often struggling with relationship issues, career issues, stress/anxiety, depression, and life transitions. When going through challenging times, it's easy to lose sight of our strength and resiliency. I seek to deeply understand what's important to my clients, what they value, and what brings meaning to their lives. I push my clients to get clear about what their goals and hopes are, so our efforts can be aligned in achieving those desired outcomes.
